To all the instructors receiving our newsletter for the first time—welcome to Skyfarer! We’re glad to have you with us as we continue to grow and improve the platform together.

Heading into fall, we’re thrilled to see our community expanding like never before. With the InstructAir acquisition, more students are finding their way to Skyfarer—and we’re putting the spotlight on instructors who actively teach. Here’s what’s new this September:

1. Skyfarer Acquired InstructAir ✈️

We’ve officially completed the acquisition of InstructAir, a platform and community of more than 10,000 users known for on-demand local aviation training. This milestone accelerates our mission to make flight training more accessible, connected, and flexible for every pilot’s journey.

InstructAir began nine years ago by recognizing the challenges of finding pilot training and the importance of empowering individual instructors to connect easily with prospective students.

By joining forces, we can deliver enhanced solutions and strengthen the community with expanded opportunities for success.

2. Prioritization for Student Inquiries 📌

More students are asking for support in finding the right training, and our team is expanding to help. Here’s what’s changing:

  • When a student submits an inquiry, our team will review their needs and goals, then match them with instructors best suited to their needs.
  • Priority will first go to instructors whose students complete training on Skyfarer (a first session counts too).
  • Positive reviews from students will also boost your page visibility in search and referrals.

Takeaway: Completing sessions and encouraging students to leave a review will directly improve how often you’re matched with new students.

3. Improvements Rolling Out Soon ✨

We’re continuing to improve the platform with updates that enhance accessibility and usability:

  • Topbar, Footer, and Authentication Pages – streamlined for easier navigation.
  • Bug fixes – addressing stability issues and ensuring smoother performance. These upgrades will be deployed to the live site in the coming week.

Coming soon & Looking ahead:

  • Training Price Inquiries & Custom Requests – previewed in our July updates, with full details to be shared at release.
  • Inbox Sorting Options – making it easier for instructors to organize and manage student communications.
  • Digital File Attachments in Messages – send and receive files directly (e.g., syllabi, endorsements, training checklists, images).
  • Transaction Fields at Checkout – similar to user account and listing fields, but embedded in the checkout, inquiry, or offer form. This will let students provide more specific details about their training needs right from the start.
  • Expanded Location Pages with Featured Listings – expanding our landing pages (from state-level to city-level). Previously, featured listings had to be added manually; with our next upgrade, all listings could be automatically highlighted in a section on our pages.

4. New FAQs and Help Pages for Students and Instructors 📖

With thousands of new users arriving on the platform, clear guidance has become more important. To support both students and instructors, we’re currently building dedicated FAQ and Help Pages.

Once live, these resources will answer common questions, walk new users through getting started on Skyfarer, and provide quick links to policies, tutorials, and troubleshooting tips.

The goal is to reduce friction for everyone—so students can confidently begin training, and instructors can spend more time focusing on teaching rather than repetitive questions

5. Flight Instructor Survey (We Want Your Voice) 📝

Three months ago, we conducted a nationwide survey of students and pilots to better understand the challenges they face in flight training.

Now, it’s time to hear directly from you—our instructors. We’re launching the Flight Instructor Survey to capture your insights, priorities, and pain points. Your feedback will help us:

  • Identify the biggest challenges instructors face today
  • Prioritize the tools and features you need most
  • Shape how we allocate resources to better support your success on Skyfarer Your input is incredibly valuable in making Skyfarer one of the most instructor-friendly platforms for aviation training.
